On August 9, the Modern States Education Alliance announced its official launch of . The courses, taught by professors from leading institutions, have no prerequisites or restrictions for enrolling and cover all CLEP exam subjects. The courses are free to all users and also include free textbooks and course materials.

The HiSET® exam consists of five subtests (content areas): Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading, and Writing. The cost for each subtest is $17.75($10.75 to purchase the subtest and $7 to cover the cost of administering the subtest at a testing center). Beginning with the purchase of your first subtest, there is also a $10 state registration fee payable once every 12 months. You can purchase any number of different subtests at the same time. You will receive two retests for each subtest you purchase. If you need to retake a subtest, you pay only the $7 test center fee.
The total cost for all five tests will be $98.75.
Please note: test-takers have two additional retakes available; each subtest has a 12-month testing window, which automatically begins at the time of purchase of that subtest. Test-takers using the available retakes pay the testing center fee ($7 per subtest). Test-takers can take subtests up to three times in a calendar year.

The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is an integral part of law school admission in the United States, Canada, and a growing number of other countries. The test is designed specifically to assess key skills needed for success in law school, including reading comprehension, analytical reasoning, and logical reasoning. The LSAT is the only test accepted for admission purposes by all ABA-accredited law schools and Canadian common-law law schools.
Starting in September 2019, the LSAT will be administered digitally in North America.
Some law schools will accept tests other than the LSAT for admission. However, students who want to maximize their chances for admission are advised to take the LSAT. It is the only test accepted by all ABA-accredited law schools, and it is the only test that helps the test taker to determine if law school is right for them.
The Digital LSAT is the same multiple-choice exam as the paper-and-pencil LSAT, delivered on easy-to-use tablets instead of booklets. The tablets will be provided to test takers at the test center. The content and the structure of the test sections and questions are the same as the traditional paper-and-pencil LSAT. It is important to note that the test day is now shorter for test takers because the is (as of June 2019) administered separately from the LSAT multiple-choice test sections, online via a secure testing platform. Another important change for test takers is that their answers are now selected on the screen by tapping on their answer choice. There are no more paper answer sheets. The tablet offers great features such as a timer with a five-minute warning, highlighting, and flagging to keep track of questions that a test taker may want to revisit in a section.
LSAT Writing is a proctored, on-demand writing exam that is administered online using secure proctoring software that is installed on the candidate’s own computer.
LSAC developed LSAT Writing in response to feedback from test takers. The new approach has shortened the LSAT test day and provides more flexibility for candidates taking the exam. Using LSAT Writing, candidates can now complete the writing sample portion of the test at a convenient time and place of their choosing.
LSAT Writing uses the same decision-prompt structure that schools and candidates are already familiar with from previous LSAT administrations. This structure is specifically designed to elicit the kind of argumentative writing that candidates will be expected to produce in law school. Candidates will still be given 35 minutes to write an essay in response to the prompt that is presented to them.

The Medical College Admission Test is a standardized, multiple-choice examination designed to assess the examinee's problem solving, critical thinking, writing skills, and knowledge of science concepts and principles prerequisite to the study of medicine. Scores are reported in Physical Sciences, Verbal reasoning, Writing Sample, and Biological Sciences.

International students seeking undergraduate admission to MSSU must take the Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency if they do not have a sufficient TOEFL score of 535, or a minimum TOEFL computer score of 200. This test consists of three parts grammar, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. All tests questions are multiple choice.
Part 1: Grammar
The first part of this test has 40 multiple choice questions to answer. This test will show how well you recognize and use English grammatical structures. Each question in this test is part of a conversation. In each conversation a word (or group of words) is left out. Following the conversation are four choices of words which might be used in the incomplete conversation. You are to select the word (or group of words) which would be used by a speaker of English, and which will best fit into the conversation.

The correct English sentence is: "That is called a spider."
Part 2: Vocabulary
The second part of the Michigan Test of English Language Proficiency has 40 questions. It includes two types of items. The first type of question will give you a sentence followed by four words or phrases. You will find the word that most closely matches the meaning of the underlined word or phrase.
Sample Question
It's too windy to go for a stroll.
a) swim
b) sail
c) drive
d) walk
The word 'walk' means about the same thing as 'stroll' in this sentence. The sentence "It's too windy to go for a walk," means the same thing as "It's too windy to go for a stroll." Therefore, the answer is "d".
The other type of question will give you a sentence with a missing word and a list of four words that might finish the sentence. You will identify which word best finishes the sentences.
Sample Question
Because of the storm and rough waves, it would be foolish to go out sailing today in a small ___________.
a) automobile
b) house
c) boat
d) beast
The word 'boat' fits best in the sence so that it reads, "Because of the storm and rough waves, it would be foolish to go out sailing in a small boat." Therefore, the answer is "c".
Part 3: Reading Comprehension
The third part of this test has 20 questions. This test will show how well you read English. You will read several passages, each followed by some questions about the passage. After carefully reading the passage, you will try to answer the questions. If you don't know the answer at first, you can read the passage again, but do not spend too much time on the passage or you will not have enough time to finish.

While I was getting ready to go to town one morning last week, my wife handed me a little piece of red cloth and asked if I would have time during the day to buy her two yards of cloth like that. I told her I would be glad to do it. And putting the piece of cloth into my pocket, I took the train for town.

You know that the person telling the story is a married man because he says, "... my wife handed me..." Therefore, the answer is "c".

Registering and scheduling an exam with Pearson VUE
Candidates are directed to schedule appointments through the website or through the Pearson VUE Call Center, as directed below. If a candidate calls MSSU's Testing Services (ACTS) to register/schedule we will refer him or her to one of the resources below.
Pearson Vue candidates can register and schedule by:
1. Visiting the Pearson Vue website, E OR
2. By calling the Pearson Vue Call Center. Candidates can phone the call center at 1-866-899-6189 (toll free) Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. central standard time.
Visit E and select the relevant test program from the Test Taker Services section. Next, select 'Schedule a Test' on the right-hand side of the page and complete the necessary fields. Upon confirming the booking, you will receive a confirmation e-mail from Pearson VUE. At a minimum, this confirmation will contain information such as the time, date and location of your test, including directions to the test center.
Visit E and select the relevant test program from the Test Taker Services section. Once you have chosen your test program, select 'Reschedule a Test' on the right- hand side and complete the necessary fields.

When candidates arrive for an exam, they go through a standard admissions process. Candidates are asked to provide two forms of identification, to agree in writing to a set of exam rules and to sign a log sheet. The Testing Services office offers proctoring services for those needing to test for other colleges/universities. We administer tests and exams for clients who are enrolled at other centers of higher education and/or seek licensure or proficiency status by way of certification assessments.

Residual testing is provided for participating colleges that wish to administer the ACT Assessment to their enrolled or admitted students. Following are some major features of residual testing:
Results are reported only to the college administering the test. No Student Reports or High School Reports are generated and no Additional Score Reports will be generated to report scores to any other college.
Students may not repeat residual testing until 60 days have passed since their previous testing on an non-national basis.
Residual testing is not accepted for NCAA initial eligibility.
Each of the Tests is constructed to measure knowledge and skills typically taught in high school that are important for successfully completing a college education.
English Test (45 minutes) –The English Test measure your understanding of the conventions of standard written English in punctuation, grammar, and sentence structure and your skill in making the kinds of cessions made by good writers related to strategy, organization , and style.
Mathematics Test (60 minutes) —The Mathematics Test measure the mathematical skills that you have acquired in courses taken up to the beginning of grade 12. The test requires you to use your reasoning skills to solve practical problems in mathematics. Knowledge of basic formulas and computational skills are assumed as background for the problems. {You may use a calculator in the ACT Assessment Mathematics Test (but not on any of the other tests in the ACT Assessment). You are not required to use a calculator. All of the problems can be solved without a calculator. You may use any four-function, scientific, or graphing calculator, unless it has features in the
Reading Test (35 minutes) - The Reading Test measure reading comprehension as a product of your skill in referring and reasoning. The test items require you to derive meaning from several tests by referring to what is explicitly stated and by reasoning to determine implicit meanings and to draw conclusion, comparisons, and generalizations.
Science Test (35 minutes) – The Science Test measure your skills in the interpretation, analysis, evaluation, reasoning, and problem-solving required in natural science coursework. Test content is drawn from biology, chemistry, physic and the Earth/space sciences.

Scores
Results are generally available in the Admissions Office, Hearnes Hall 106, two days after the test. Photo ID is required to pick up results. Results will not be given out over the phone. You may request to have scores mailed.
